With 833 424 inhabitants, the population density is 96, 2 per square kilometer. The birth rate is 13.8 per thousand inhabitants, while the infant mortality is below 5 per thousand live births. Life expectancy is 76.5 years for males and 80.04 for women, with an overall average of 78.2. It is the oldest province in the island. One hundred people in the territory over the century. Adorned with beautiful keys, has an advantageous geographical position, placing it 267 kilometers from Havana, 74Km from Cienfuegos , 207km from Varadero and only 88km from Trinidad. The capital of Villa Clara is Santa Clara, internationally known as the city of Che, as in this place the Cuban-Argentine Commander fought, at the end of 1958, the battle that consolidated the revolutionary victory. In the Sculpture Set that bears his name, remains his rests and the rest of the Latin American and Cuban fighters who fell with him in the guerrilla movement in Bolivia.
